No, that's not the one with the monkeys ... the one I have dates from the mid-80s because he references different "themes" (Reagan marching on the Cossacks, complete with "crunching snow") they were exploring during Space at that time. It's a very funny interview - Jerry is very animated and there is definitely some partying going on (freebase?). Some thoughtful ideas expressed about the cop-out of destroying as opposed to building things up, and the story about the monkeys washing the potatoes in salt water and how the idea "leapt" from one totally isolated island to another. They also paint an audio picture of the ultimate rock 'n roll fantasy: sitting around on enormous divans while naked ladies feed them peeled grapes. Good shit ...

This is the interview I was referring to after the inauguration. Just dug out the tape and listened. Begins with talk about mine sweeping children in the Iran- Iraq war. It's definitely early eighties. Was added as filler for 84 Merriweather tape. Lost touch years ago with the guy who taped it for me (Pete from Andover, NY, if you're out there, shoot me a flare). Interesting conversation about coming up with themes for space, giving structure for the "completely wierd shit". Ends with, hey New Yorkers get your feet out of the toilet, and this is 90.7 FM.

Anyway, lots of snorkin' going on in the background and in between words in the middle of sentences. Could be just a runny nose...

If anyone knows more about where this came from I'd be interested to know, been wonderin' for 25 years.
